Over $2.7 Billion in Funding to WebRTC Companies in 2016
As we take a look back at 2016, we are astonished at the amount of funding pouring into Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC) products and services. While Snap Inc accounts for $1.8 billion of the total funding this year, it leaves us just shy of the $1 billion mark with $973 million in funding going over 40 companies.
In our report, Over $1 Billion in Funding to WebRTC Companies in 2015, we saw $1.09 billion in funding going to companies last year. Snap Inc accounted for $537.6 million of the total funding in 2015 and $1.8 billion in 2016. If we take Snap’s funding out of the equation for 2015 and 2016, we saw an impressive 74% increase in capital going to WebRTC related products and services.
We are excited to see such positive growth continue for the industry. As 2016 draws to an end, our team is gearing up for what looks to be breakout year for the industry. Below is a list of companies who received funding in 2016. If we missed any please let us know by sending us an email to hi@blaccspot.com.
